I applaud the effort of this article but the suggestions are incorrect. They are not grounded in science.

For a child to lose fat two things are necessary:

1. A low carbohydrate (sugar) diet. Low fat diets are the main reason why we have an adolescent obesity epidemic.

Low fat diet = high carbohydrate diet. High carbohydrate diet = high insulin levels. High insulin levels = obesity and diabetes. You don't get to vote on this. It's science.

2. Weight lifting. Physical activity aerobic type programs have never been shown to be effective for fat loss in kids or in adults. But weight lifting has and quite effectively.

This my friends is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Please visit www.strongkidshealthykids.com for more info on this.

We need to start telling the truth not spouting the same misinformation, however well intentioned, over and over again. Our children are at stake.
